Masonry Repair Services for Homeowners in the Main Line and Havertown area

Brick and stone are built to last, but no masonry is maintenance-free. Mortar joints wear away, bricks crack and spall after years of freeze-thaw cycles, and steps, walls and stoops shift over time. BJK Masonry & Restoration provides masonry repair for homeowners in Havertown, Wynnewood, Ardmore and nearby communities, fixing the damage before it spreads into a bigger, more expensive problem. If you are searching for “masonry repair near me,” our team can look at the problem and explain the right fix.

Every repair starts with understanding the masonry already in your home. We look at the brick or stone, the mortar, the joint profile and the cause of the damage, then plan a repair that fits. For older homes, we prepare lime mortar in-house so new work behaves like the original materials. When the damage goes deeper than a few units, we can also handle brick and stone repointing or full historic masonry restoration.

Our masonry repair services cover targeted work that many contractors pass on: a cracked step, a loose section of brick, a hole left by an old wall air conditioner. Small repairs are real work to us, and every one gets the same attention to detail.

Masonry repair cost depends on the size of the damage, the type of brick or stone, access, and whether the underlying cause needs to be fixed too. The average for brick wall repair is around $1,717, with most homeowners paying between $801 and $2,633, and crack repairs involving 10 or fewer bricks often cost $500 or less. At BJK, projects start at $450, and we provide a project-specific price after a free on-site estimate.

Yes. We repair eroded mortar joints, damaged brick, crowns and flue caps, and we repoint and rebuild chimneys when needed. Learn more about our chimney repair and restoration services.

We match color, texture and joint style as closely as the materials allow. Older masonry weathers in its own way, so we talk through realistic expectations before work begins.

No. New mortar needs sound material to bond to, so the old mortar has to be removed first. The National Park Service recommends removing old mortar to a minimum depth of 2 to 2-1/2 times the width of the joint to ensure a good bond and prevent new mortar from popping out. For a typical 3/8-inch joint, that means cutting back roughly 3/4 inch to 1 inch before repointing.

BJK is based in Havertown and provides masonry repair within about 10 miles of home, including Wynnewood, Ardmore and nearby communities. Not sure if we cover your street? Give us a call.

It depends on where the crack is and what caused it. Cracks that follow the mortar joints are usually repaired by removing the damaged mortar and repointing the joints. Cracked or spalled bricks and stones are cut out and replaced with units that match the wall. Stair-step cracks, widening cracks or cracks with bulging masonry can point to movement, so the cause needs to be evaluated before the repair. Filling cracks with caulk or smearing mortar over the surface rarely holds and can trap moisture.
